Where are the best beaches in the United States ?

From Clearwater Beach in Florida to Venice Beach in California, the best beaches in the US can be found all over the country. Whether you enjoy the calm waters of a small town's public beach for a holiday with the kids, or dream of romantic evening strolls along endless white sand beaches.

We are pleased to present our top 5 best beaches in the USA to help you plan your own dreamy beach trip.

1. Driftwood Beach, Jeckle Island, Georgia

The spider-like branches of twisted oaks hanging over the golden sands of Jeckle Island off the coast of Georgia look eerie. The trees beckon you in, whispering mysteries from centuries ago. You can even imagine funny zombie stories - scenes for Season 10 of The Walking Dead were filmed on this Georgia beach.

That being said, the scene is far from grim. Kids can safely explore tidal puddles and climb sun-bleached tree trunks without fear of zombie attack. Instead, you can expect a row of happy brides and grooms smiling for wedding photos among the branches at sunset, providing a colorful backdrop.

Once part of a maritime forest, the trees fell as the beach eroded and their roots were exposed to the sun and salt water. Some trees may be more than 500 years old, while others have fallen more recently due to storms and the persistent onslaught of the Atlantic.

2. Grayton Beach, Grayton Beach State Park, Florida

The sugar-white sands of Grayton Beach evolve like Delicate Cream, their ephemeral beauty constantly changing thanks to the winds and waves along the Florida peninsula. They provide a striking contrast to the clear waters of the Gulf of Mexico rolling ashore.

But this mile (1.6 kilometers) of pure sand, part of Grayton Beach State Park, is more than just a beautiful Florida beach. The beach's dunes protect three coastal dune lakes, which is a rare natural phenomenon found in only four countries in the world. The 7.2km multi-use trail winds through forests and along the 40-hectare (100-acre) West Lake, the largest of the park's coastal dune lakes. Its dazzling blue waters are accessible to kayaks, canoes and stand-up paddling.

3. South Beach, Miami Beach, Florida

A glittering confection of sun, style and beautiful people, South Beach epitomizes the good life. Just outside of downtown Miami in South Florida, South beech sparkles like a frozen kaleidoscope.

Aquamarine waters roll over lush white sands, while the neat greenery of Lummus Park and the waterfront spreads out to the west. Brightly coloured lifeguard towers bring a bit of whimsy to the beach, hinting at the vibrant facades of Miami's historic Art Deco district. Built in the 1930s, the Art Deco hotels along Ocean Drive are examples of geometry, color and functionality. Caribbean elements and towering palm trees add visual impetus, while neon and clubs contrasted with the more relaxed yet still dynamic North Beach add a fire to evening life.

4. Venice Beach, Los Angeles, California

Cheap Sunglasses sold in every direction on the Venice Beach boardwalk - a 3.2 kilometer strip of creativity surrounded by marijuana shops, T-shirt shops and eateries in South Los Angeles - and that's just the view from the inside.

On the ocean side, palm trees frame the sandy beach and Pacific Ocean, while the views are punctuated by bodybuilders lifting weights on Muscle Beach, basketball players throwing balls on the busy courts, and skateboarders landing in the sparkling skatepark. Grab a seat to watch the action. Jugglers, gymnasts and artists all compete for attention - and a few dollars - along the way.

5. El Matador State Beach, Malibu, California

‘A ‘shabby beach’ on the west side of Malibu, El Matador may be small, but it offers a huge visual impact. One of three small beaches that make up the Robert M. Meyer Memorial State Beach - the other two are El Pescador and La Piedra - El Matador nestles at the base of the twisting cliffs that rise above the Pacific Ocean next to Pacific Coast Highway (PCH or California Route 1).

A dirt trail descends down the steep cliffs to a set of steps that lead to the soft sand of the beach, where the visual feast really begins. A cluster of rocks and sea stacks extend from the cliffs bounding the bay into the sea. The largest formations hide arches and caves that are perfect candidates for exploration and photography - as are the tidal pools full of sea life. Sunset illuminates the cliffs with golden light, casting shadows and revealing new treasures. On a quiet afternoon, the effect is close to divine.
